Why is it the burden of proof on us to prove the existence of God, when everybody knows its a fact he exists?

... Seriously? Prove that the bible is true and maybe I'll start considering things. If you say that the bible is true because god wrote it and we know god wrote it because the bible says so I'm going to rip a little 5 year old girl in half and throw her mangled corpse in your house.
